McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaison Training Program
Our McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaison Training Program cover LEA staff job duties, roles, and responsibilities of a McKinney-Vento liaison. The training provides break-downs of the federal McKinney-Vento laws, community-created videos, and webinars from experts in the field of homeless youth. The training provides practical application, and best practice procedures for liaisons looking to improve their skills. Participants will view webinars created by leading experts in serving homeless youth and read through technical documentation meant to deepen understanding. Participants should leave training with a high-level grasp of how almost any challenge to homeless youth can be addressed at the LEA, school, and community level. Participants that complete this training will have a firm understanding of the McKinney-Vento law and the requirements that must be met in order to fulfill the duties of a McKinney-Vento Liaison.
McKinney-Vento Essential Staff Training Program
The McKinney-Vento Essential Staff Training Courses aim to equip all school personnel with professional development and training to heighten their awareness of, and capacity to respond to specific problems in the education of homeless children and youths (a requirement of the McKinney Vento Homeless Youth Act). Under a revised amendment to McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act and Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015, Federal law now requires that McKinney-Vento District Liaisons provide all school personnel with professional development and training to heighten their awareness of, and capacity to respond to, specific problems in the education of homeless children and youths. The McKinney-Vento Essential Staff Training Program helps to satisfy this requirement in an effective way, training each member of your staff in just 15 minutes. Failure to perform in accordance with these federally mandated requirements may result in state or federal compliance audits as well as put a school district’s Title I funding at risk. With this in mind, specific courseware is available for each staff position in any public district or charter. By educating every essential staff member in the school system, we are arming our homeless liaisons with additional ambassadors to ensure the educational excellence and success of our children, youth, and families experiencing homelessness.

McKinney-Vento.org Data Tool
The McKinney-Vento Data Tool is a secure student information database designed for use by LEA Homeless Liaisons or other approved district users to document pertinent information on youth experiencing homelessness and unaccompanied homeless youth. Basic demographic, services provided, referrals, funds expended, barriers encountered and case notes that help document and track services by student, are included in this system. Reports can be generated from the system for state, federal and local reporting efforts, including automatically generated pie charts, bar graphs, and more. Secure access is based on a hierarchy of permissions, set by the primary account holder at launch.
